Tris-Glycine electrophoresis buffer is the most commonly used buffer in protein polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, suitable for polyacrylamide gels with Tris-Glycine buffer systems. Tris-Hepes electrophoresis buffer is suitable for polyacrylamide gels with Hepes-Tris buffer systems. Tris-MOPS and Tris-MES electrophoresis buffers are suitable for polyacrylamide gels with Bis-Tris buffer systems. Tris-Tricine buffer is used for polyacrylamide gels with Tricine buffer systems. Different protein electrophoresis buffers and buffer system gels are not interchangeable. The above electrophoresis buffers are available in both SDS-free and SDS-containing formulations, suitable for non-denaturing and denaturing gel electrophoresis. The formulations have been optimized for superior electrophoresis results. Powdered formulations are ready-to-use; simply add double-distilled water to the specified volume before use. Concentrated electrophoresis buffers are also available and can be diluted to 1× working solution according to the concentration factor for convenient storage. Multiple concentrate formulations are available to meet various experimental needs.
