This strain has chloramphenicol resistance (CamR) and is supplemented with tRNAs corresponding to six rare codons (AUA, AGG, AGA, CUA, CCC, GGA) that are deficient in E. coli, facilitating the expression of eukaryotic genes. It carries the λ phage DE3 region (which contains the T7 RNA polymerase gene) integrated into its chromosome and expresses both T7 RNA polymerase and E. coli RNA polymerase, making it suitable for protein expression using pET, pGEX, and pMAL plasmids.
