This strain is derived from MC1061. Mutations in mcrA, mcrBC, and mrr make DH10B suitable for cloning DNA rich in methylcytosine or methyladenine. The recA1 and endA1 mutations facilitate stable insertion of DNA and high-purity plasmid DNA extraction. The presence of Φ 80 lacZΔM15 enables blue-white screening in DH10B, and rpsL confers streptomycin resistance.
