The TOP10 strain is derived from MC1061 and is one of the commonly used strains in laboratories, widely applied in molecular biology experiments such as gene cloning, blue-white screening, and stable plasmid amplification. Transformation efficiency with pUC19 plasmid can reach over 5 × 10⁸ cfu/μg DNA.
- Belongs to the *E. coli* K12 series, suitable for gene cloning, with fast growth rate
- For blue-white screening, only X-gal needs to be pre-coated on the plate; IPTG is not required
- Not suitable for protein expression using the T7 RNA polymerase expression system
- Free of exogenous plasmid DNA residue
