MS medium has a high concentration of inorganic salts, ensuring the mineral nutrition required for tissue growth and accelerating callus proliferation. Due to its high ion concentration, slight variations in components during preparation, storage, or sterilization do not affect ionic balance. MS solid medium can be used for callus induction as well as for culturing embryos, stem segments, shoot tips, and anthers. MS liquid medium is primarily used for suspension culture of tissue cells.
